On February 6, Alibaba Qianwen launched the "Spring Festival 3 billion free orders" campaign and announced the distribution of free milk tea cards. After WeChat blocked Tencent Yuanbao and Baidu Wenxin Assistant, it also blocked Qianwen’s red envelope sharing link.
Previously, WeChat Pai pointed out in the "Announcement on Crackdown on Third-Party Induced Sharing Behavior" that after receiving user feedback and complaints against Yuanbao, it will deal with Yuanbao's illegal links and restrict them from being opened directly in WeChat, effective immediately. Yuanbao said in its response that day, "We are urgently optimizing and adjusting the sharing mechanism. We will go online as soon as possible to ensure users' experience in grabbing red envelopes."
The Spring Festival of the Year of the Horse is approaching, and the red envelope war among major Internet companies is about to begin. Unlike 2015, when WeChat red envelopes entered the payment market, the protagonist this year has become the AI applications of major Internet companies. On January 25, Tencent’s AI application “Yuanbao” announced that users could receive 1 billion yuan in cash red envelopes for participating in the event. On February 2, Qianwen, an AI application owned by Alibaba, announced that it had invested 3 billion yuan in “treating guests”. As of February 5, according to incomplete statistics, Baidu, Alibaba, Tencent and Byte claimed that the scale of investment in the Spring Festival red envelope war has reached as high as 4.5 billion yuan.
